1ST LESSON: 2 Kings 4:32-37

2ND LESSON: Mark 16:12-20

A Shunammite woman always hosts Elisha when he comes to town, but she has no child.

When Elisha noticed, he prayed for her, and she bore a son, but after a few years, the boy fell sick and died.

The woman placed the dead child on Elisha’s bed in the room they prepared for him and hurriedly traveled to Mount Carmel to bring the man of God.

When Elisha arrived with her at Shunem, he went in alone, shut the door behind him, and prayed to God.

He lay down on the child’s body, placing his mouth on the child’s mouth, his eyes on the child’s eye, and his hands on the child’s hand.

He did this twice, and God gave life to the boy through Elisha’s body, and Elisha handed the boy to the mother alive.

In the second lesson, Mark narrates the Resurrected Lord's appearance to two of his followers who are traveling from Jerusalem.

They quickly went back to town to tell others, but no one believed them.

Later, Jesus appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together, and he rebuked them for refusing to believe those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead.

Then, Jesus told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”

The Good News is that Jesus has paid the penalty for sin and that everyone who believes in him can be forgiven and live eternally with God.

Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved not by the water of baptism but by God’s grace accepted through faith in Jesus Christ.

Those who refuse to believe will be condemned regardless of whether they have been baptized, but miraculous signs shall follow those who believe.

The Lord was taken up into heaven when he finished giving the instructions, and the disciples went about preaching the Good News.
