SUBMISSION TO GOD’S RULE

LESSON SUMMARY IN 300 WORDS

301TH EDITION, February8th, 2026

1ST LESSON: Daniel 4:29-33

2ND LESSON: 1 Peter 5:5-7

God wanted the king Nebuchadnezzar to acknowledge that the Supreme God controls all human kingdoms and gives them to anyone he chooses.

God showed him, as interpreted by Daniel, in a dream, what would happen to him if he did not repent.

The first lesson passage covers the fulfillment of God’s judgment against King Nebuchadnezzar.

Just a year later, while he was on the roof of his palace, he said, “Look how great Babylon is! I built it as my capital city to display my power and might, my glory and Majesty.”

And God responded immediately, “Your royal power is now taken away from you.”

King Nebuchadnezzar was driven out of society; he ate grass like an ox, his hair grew as long as an eagle's feathers, and his nails grew as long as bird claws.

Peter opened the fifth chapter of his first letter with an appeal to the elders to be good shepherds over the people.

Then he turned to the youth and told them to submit to the elders.

He continued: both elders and youth must put on the apron of humility, humble enough to admit they can learn from each other.

Pride often keeps older people from trying to understand young people and keeps young people from listening to those who are older.

Peter quoted from Proverbs 3:34: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Believers are to humble themselves under God’s powerful hand, and not to one another outside in any way that dishonors God.

We often do not receive proper recognition and appreciation for what we do, yet we must be steadfast, knowing that God will lift the humble in His time, for God’s recognition counts more than human praise.

Peter added that believers should give all their worries and cares to God, for he cares about you; this is another form of submission to God.
