LESSON SUMMARY IN 300 WORDS

203RD EDITION, MARCH24TH, 2024

1ST LESSON: Isaiah 12:1-16

2ND LESSON: John 12:12-19

Coming after the previous chapter had powerfully spoken of the reign of the Messiah as king over all the earth

This chapter of a praise song looks forward to the unfolding events that will follow as benefits of surrendering to the Messiah’s kingship

On that day, God’s people will not only praise but acknowledge the Lord’s anger taken away and he will become their strength and salvation

Good works and the law will not be their salvation but God; this will be fulfilled in our coming to Jesus to draw water from the wells of salvation, even drawing with joy

To this end, the first partakers shall proclaim his name; telling all the nations what the LORD has done and how great he is

Israel will praise God because the great and holy One of Israel dwells among them.

The second lesson describes the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem as King

It was the Passover festival and plenty of people were in Jerusalem for the festival

When they learned Jesus was coming, a great crowd went out to meet him, taking palm branches in their hands

Howbeit, they have taken Jesus to be the nation’s political deliverer

Here Jesus, fulfilled two ancient prophecies as the people shout “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord”

He also rode on a donkey fulfilling “Your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt”

All these were later understood by the disciples after Jesus was raised to glory

Meanwhile, the Jewish leaders were plotting Jesus’ death, even Lazarus as well

This was because the people who witnessed the raising of Lazarus from death had spread the news and motivated more people to come see Jesus and Lazarus who was raised to live

The people still followed Jesus
