1ST LESSON: 2 Kings 16:1-8

2ND LESSON: Ephesians 6:1-8

After Solomon's reign, the kingdom of Israel was divided into the northern and southern kingdoms, and Ahaz ruled as the twelfth king of Judah, the southern kingdom.

While Pekah was king in Israel, Ahaz was king in Judah, and he walked in the path of the evil kings of Judah.

He followed the detestable practices of the pagan nations the LORD had driven from the land, offering sacrifices and burning incense on the pagan shrines.

At that time, Pekah, the king of Israel, and Rezin, the king of Aram, offered to join an anti-Assyrian coalition with Ahaz of Judah, but Ahaz refused.

Thus, the two kings attacked Jerusalem to conquer Judah, but they failed.

Ahaz chose to seek deliverance by forming an alliance with Assyria, even using the Temple’s treasury as a bargaining chip, thereby securing short-term relief.

But this revealed that Judah had rejected and failed to trust God, leading to their exile.

In the second lesson, Apostle Paul gave instructions for Christian households living

Children are to obey their parents, accepting their guidance and discipline as God’s representatives.

In addition to obedience, children must also honor their parents.

They are to love and hold their parents in esteem, even when they are no longer under their care.

This commandment comes with a promise: “So that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

The fathers, on the other hand, should not be unnecessarily harsh or domineering to their children, but bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

Paul also encouraged slaves to serve their masters in fear and respect as unto Christ, for the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether as slaves or free.
