THE FALL AND THE RESTORATION

LESSON SUMMARY IN 300 WORDS

322th EDITION, July 5th, 2026

1ST LESSON: Genesis 3:1-16

2ND LESSON: Luke 1:39-55

The first lesson narrates the fall of man, which disrupts the perfect harmony between God, man, the couple, and creation.

The Serpent approached Eve with a cunning question.

The Serpent deceived the woman into believing that the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would not make them die but would open their eyes, and they would be like God, knowing good and evil.

The Serpent also denies the punishment and glorifies the reward, luring them to “being like God” in a manner different from how God already made them.

Eve was convinced, ate, and gave her husband.

They failed to rule over the serpent, betrayed God, and permitted evil to enter the garden

Now they lost their innocence and realized they were naked, and separated from God by this sin of disobedience

The Lord called Adam first to account for his disobedience and gave punishment to the Serpent, Eve, and Adam.

After the angel Gabriel foretold the birth of Jesus to Mary, he also mentioned Elizabeth’s conception as evidence of God’s word that never fails

This prompted Mary’s instant visit to Elizabeth

At the sound of Mary’s greetings to Elizabeth, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and she was filled with the Holy Spirit

Elizabeth called Mary the mother of the Lord, expressed the honor of her visit, blessed her for believing God’s word, and told her she was blessed above all women

Mary responded in a song, praising God for taking notice of his lowly servant girl, now blessed across generations to come

Mary added that “God’s mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation” (Ps 103:17)

Mary also reflects the reversal of the fortunes that people will experience through her son- the poor and marginalized will experience God’s blessings.

And now the promise to Abraham and his descendants is fulfilled.
