1ST LESSON: Zechariah 3:1-8

2ND LESSON: Revelation 12:7-12

Prophet Zechariah, who participated in the rebuilding of the City of Jerusalem and the Temple alongside Haggai, saw eight visions pointing to the cleansing of Jerusalem as a center of worship for all nations.

In his fourth vision, Zechariah saw Joshua the high priest in a heavenly court scene, with Satan accusing him, but God rejected Satan’s accusation, rebuked him, and vindicated Joshua.

Joshua’s filthy garment was replaced with a holy garment and a priestly turban, indicating the removal of his sins.

The purification of Joshua the high priest was strategic because he was responsible for ensuring the purity of God’s people through temple sacrifice.

If Joshua follows God’s way and serves God carefully, God will give him authority over the temple and admit him into his presence.

The service of this cleansed high priest, and that of his associates, serves as a symbol of things to come: God would bring the Branch (Messiah), who would remove the sin of the land in a single day.

In his revelation account, John recorded a significant event in heaven involving the woman and her Messianic child versus the dragon, representing Satan.

The dragon was ready to devour the baby of the pregnant woman who would rule all nations, but God protected the woman and the child.

Then there was war in heaven; Michael and his angels fought and defeated the dragon and his angels and expelled them to the earth.

This may imply the primordial fall or the heavenly events accompanying the end-time tribulation on earth.

Significantly, a voice shouted across the heavens, declaring the fulfillment of God’s kingdom: Christ's salvation, power, and authority.

Although the accuser of the brethren was thrown down to earth, believers’ ultimate victory comes through Jesus’ death and their witness: the blood and the word.
