David attempted for the second time to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, and this time he was dressed in priestly garments and danced with all his might to honor God.
Upon arrival, Michal, the daughter of King Saul, saw David dancing and was disgusted with him
When David returned home to bless his family, Michal came out to meet him.
She said that the king exposed himself like a fool, dancing half-naked in the sight of the servant women of his officials.
David replied that he was dancing to honor the God who had chosen him, instead of his father Saul, as king over Israel, and that he would even do more.
Michal unjustly reproached David for his devotion and worship, and she was also under the reproach of barrenness, as the Bible records that Michal had no children to the day of her death.
Although the text does not say that God made her barren.
In the second lesson, King Herod became troubled as the reputation of Jesus, whom all agreed was a prophet, continued to spread.
With the current speculation around Jesus’ identity, Herod thought the John the Baptist he executed had come back to life.
Herod Antipas had married his brother’s wife, and John kept telling him, “It isn’t right for you to marry your brother’s wife.”
Herodias, the wife of Herod, had held a grudge against John and wanted him dead, but Herod knew John to be a good and holy man, and he protected him instead.
Whenever Herod listened to John, he was always miserable with guilt, and yet he couldn’t stay away.
Herodias' opportunity came after her daughter danced before the guests, leaving her with an open cheque.
Herodias told her daughter to request John’s head on a plate, and John was beheaded, just like that.
