God summoned Judah to wait on him, for He would gather the kingdoms and pour his anger on them.
But as for Judah, God will purify the lips of the peoples that all of them may call on the name of the LORD.
As they depend on Yahweh as the Savior, He would transform people from all over the world into true worshippers.
This extension to “all” is fulfilled in the church.
God’s judgment will not humiliate Jerusalem because He will remove the proud and preserve the humble and the purifying work will make them live upright.
Israel should sing and shout for joy because the Lord has ended her punishment and removed all her enemies
Israel should not be afraid or discouraged because the Lord is with her. The Lord will gather the exiles and bring them home
The second lesson narrates the coming of Jesus to Jerusalem as King
As Jesus and his disciples came near Bethphage and Bethany, Jesus sent two of his disciples to fetch a colt tied up, that has never been ridden
The disciples found it exactly so and replied to the owners that the Lord needs it as they untie it.
Following the ancient rituals for welcoming a king, the crowd threw their cloaks on the road as Jesus rides on the colt on a grand entry into Jerusalem
The whole crowd rejoiced, even people should react at the arrival of God’s salvation, they praised God for all the miracles they had seen
They recited from a royal coronation Psalm “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord
The Pharisees wanted Jesus to rebuke the people from such praise because they refuse to acknowledge Jesus as “the Lord” or “the king”
Jesus replied, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out
