LESSON SUMMARY IN 300 WORDS

258TH EDITION, APRIL13TH, 2025

1ST LESSON: Psalms 2:1-12

2ND LESSON: 1 Cor. 15:1-11

This Psalm serves as the introduction to the book of Psalms.

God the King installs his chosen and anointed king on Mount Zion as his royal representative

But in ignorance, other kings and leaders were angry and plotted to cut loose from God’s installed leadership

Enthroned in heaven, God responds in laughter and speaks to them in anger, “I have chosen this man to be king and he will rule on Zion, my holy mountain.”

God’s promise to make David king was fulfilled and points ahead to the Messianic Kingship of Jesus Christ

David continues by iterating God’s word to him, “Today I have become your father, and you are my son.”

Therefore, the kings and leaders should be wise and submit to God; they should serve God with fear and trembling and show they are loyal to his son

David is a type of Jesus; David’s throne, established forever, is fulfilled in Jesus

In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, discussing the resurrection of the dead, he began by explaining Jesus’ resurrection

As part of what was received and passed to the church is the message of resurrection, and on it stands the gospel

Without Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, the gospel is not good news, and sinners would not be saved.

Jesus died and rose on the third day, just as the Scripture had predicted

The Apostles saw him and more than 500 of his followers at the same time, to establish the objective reality

Paul, as one of the last series of Jesus' resurrection appearances, also saw him on his way to Damascus

The gospel that Paul proclaimed about resurrection to the Corinthians is not different from what the other Apostles preached
