1ST LESSON: Daniel 6:1-24

2ND LESSON: James 4:1-12

Daniel continued to hold esteemed leadership office even though there was a change in Empire from Babylon to Persia, and he is now one of three administrators next to the king

The king planned to set him over the whole kingdom because he was distinguished with exceptional quality, being the most qualified candidate

Other officials became jealous but could not succeed in bringing any charges against his office for he was trustworthy, not corrupt or negligent

They consider attacking him in the area of the law of his God

They persuaded the king to issue an edict, a thirty-day challenge where all people must pray to or through the king, and defaulters must be thrown into the lion’s den

But Daniel prayed as his practice, kneeling three times a day, facing the direction of the Temple in Jerusalem

He was reported to the king, and penalty was enforced against the king’s interest, but the king prayed, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you”

Elder James says evil desires that war within believers cause jealousy and strife, leading them to plot acquiring what they want at all cost

But you don’t have because you do not ask it from God, and even if you ask, you do not receive because your motives are wrong; you only want to use it for your own pleasure

Friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God. For the Scriptures says God is jealous and wants his spirit placed within us to be faithful to him

He gives grace generously to the humble but opposes the proud; therefore, we should humble ourselves before God.

We should resist the devil, and he will flee from us

We should come with genuine repentance and not speak evil against each other

We should not share our loyalty to God with the world
