The first lesson is an acrostic psalm which emphasizes that the word of God produces life.
In the stanza four and five of this Psalms, the Psalmist reaffirm his dedication to God’s word and requested that the LORD revive him by His word
This Psalm uses terms such as law, statute, ways, precepts, decrees and commands to represent the word of God
He seeks that God teaches him His decrees and helps him gain the understanding of the meaning of His commandments
The Psalmist confesses his determination to be faithful, and to cling to the laws and regulations of God
He would be able to follow to the end if the LORD teaches him the way of His decrees
He also prayed that the LORD turned his heart away from selfish gain and unto His statute
In the second lesson, John’s revelation proclaims the third woe as the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, completing the cycle of the seven trumpets
Voices shouts in heaven “The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever.”
God’s kingdom is tied to the Messiah, Jesus. The world has now become God’s kingdom and Christ’s return will consummate the kingdom
At this, John saw the twenty and four elders sitting on their thrones before God fell with their faces to the ground and worshipped God
They gave thanks to God who is and always was, but this time omits the final phrase, “who is to come” because God’s coming reign is realized
By the events following the trumpets sound, the angry nations now get a taste of God’s anger
The time now comes for God to judge the dead, reward his servants, all prophets and saints, and those who fears His name and to destroy the destroyers of the earth
