The people are challenged to restore social justice as God reaffirm blessings for those who honor the law and the Sabbath
The people of Israel should not make foreigners to feel like they are not part of God’s people
Or makes the eunuchs feel lost because they cannot bear children who would carry on the national heritage
The salvation of God is a spiritual rebirth that foster behavioral change, hence people who are not Israel by birth or that cannot bear children, but keeps the terms of God’s covenant for love’s sake, are acceptable
The law of Moses had excluded the eunuchs from the congregation (Deut. 23:1) but God now promised to bless them for their obedience and commitment, likewise the foreigners
The Temple will now be a house of prayer for all nations
But because Israel’ leaders have chosen to be blind, lacking knowledge, self-centered and not speaking up truth, Israel shall be devoured
In the second lesson, Paul called out the Jews and warned about God’s judgment of sin
The Jews, who typically stand in judgement over the Gentiles, are in reality guilty of the same sin and therefore subject to God’s wrath
Paul affirm that God’s patience and tolerance was intended to turn them from their sins, yet they have refused to repent, hence, storing up punishments
God does not show favoritism, He would judge everyone according to what they have done and give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, be it Jew or Gentile
Paul, alluding to the commanding elements of the Torah, emphasizes that merely listening to the law does not make us right with God but obeying it
Gentiles (Christians) who may not have the written law but instinctively obey God, demonstrates that God’s law is written in their hearts
God would judge everyone’s secret life someday
