The first lesson covers a vision Daniel, recorded during the early days of Belshazzar, the king about the end period of Babylon
He saw four huge beasts coming out from a great sea; the first was like a lion with eagle’s wing but its wing was pulled off and was given a human mind
The second looked like a bear and was instructed to devour the flesh of many people
The third looking like a leopard was also given a great authority
The fourth had ten horns, out of which three was displaced by a new horn, this crushed its victims too
Then, he saw thrones being put in place and the Ancient One sat to judge, with millions of angels attending to him
The beasts were disbanded, and the fourth, boastful beast, was killed and the Son of Man was given sovereignty over all nations
The second lesson presents the introduction of the famous letters to the seven churches, as was delivered to John while exiled to the Island for Patmos for preaching the word of God
While worshipping in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, a voice instructed John to write down the visions and send it to the seven churches
John who was suffering for God’s kingdom, and exercising patient endurance as taught by Jesus was here commissioned to write to the church in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.
The one who spoke to him was the Son of Man (Jesus), standing in the middle of the seven gold lampstands, holding seven stars in his right hand
John fell as dead before Him because His appearance was dreadful, but He laid his right hand on John and saying ‘fear not’
The living one, who died and live forever explained; the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.
And God questioned, who will get those things he had prepared for himself.
