1^ST LESSON: Amos 7 : 1 - 9

2^ND LESSON: Revelations 16 : 1 - 9

Amos was only a shepherd, but God spoke through him to Israel and Judah at a time of Israel’s economic boom that led to over-confidence

God revealed to Amos in a vision that He was preparing a vast swarm of locust to invade the land

In the vision, the locust ate every green plant in sight, but Amos asked for the forgiveness of sin for Israel and God relented

In a second vision, he saw a fire that would burn up both the land and sea, again Amos asked God to restrain his hand of judgment, and God held back

In a third vision, Amos saw the LORD using a plumb line to see if the wall was still straight

God said, “I will test my people with this plumb line, I will no longer ignore all their sins”, but Amos no longer intercedes

John in his revelation saw a vision of the seven angels holding the last seven plagues that would bring God’s wrath to completion

The first angel poured the content of his bowl on the earth and all people who had the mark of the beast or worshiped his statue got painful sores

The second angel poured his bowl on the sea, and everything in the sea died as it became like blood

The third angel poured his bowl on the rivers and springs, and they became blood.

At this, the angel that had authority over all water spoke up declaring God as just to have sent these judgments, because the people had shed the blood of God’s holy prophets

Yet, another voice from the altar added that God’s judgments are true and just

The fourth angel poured his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to burn the people with fire and great heat

But they cursed God instead of repenting
