1ST LESSON: Leviticus 26:3-13

2ND LESSON: 2 Corithians 9:5-11

God through Moses gave the Israelites instructions for worship and concluded it with blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience to the covenant stipulations.

God’s primary blessing for Israelites' obedience is food security. God would send rain in its season so that the ground would yield its crops and the trees their fruits.

Second, to that is peace, there will be peace in the land; God will protect them from the attack of wild animals and war

In addition, God would grant them victory over their enemies, and their unity would foster the defeat of their enemies.

Their harvest will be bountiful, and there will be surplus crops, to the extent that old grains will be unstocked for the new harvest.

Most Importantly, God will put his dwelling place among them; He will be their God, and they will be his people.

God reminded them again that He is Elohim, who brought them out of Egyptian slavery.

The church in Macedonia had done great because Paul had boasted to them about the generosity of the Corinthian church, now the Corinthian church must brace up and not disappoint Paul

Paul urged the Corinthian church to finish the arrangements of the promised generous gift in support of the Jerusalem church who had that time was in need.

He reminded them of this principle “The proportion of seed sown determines the harvest”

He explained further that giving should be cheerfully done; it should not seem like a painful loss or be done under compulsion, and that God loves cheerful givers

And that God can give them more blessings than they need, having plenty of everything, enough to share with others

Paul also quoted Psalms 112:9, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”
