LESSON SUMMARY IN 300 WORDS

298TH EDITION, January18th, 2026

1ST LESSON: Deuteronomy 28:1-8

2ND LESSON: James 1:21-24

After Moses had repeated the law given to Israel to the new generation that emerged, he also presented a list of blessings and curses marking the covenant terms

The blessings would be for those who fully obey and are careful to do all the commandments, and the curses would follow their disobedience

The LORD, their God will set them high above all the nations of the earth, and the blessings will come to them and be theirs

God promised blessings upon their towns, fields, children, crops, flocks, and herds, as well as fruit baskets

They will be blessed wherever they go and in whatever they do

God will help them to defeat their enemies who come to fight against them, a flawless defeat that would make them flee in confusion

The LORD guarantees the prospering of all their activities and ways. The blessing is contingent on obedience

James is one of the brothers of Jesus who became a leader of the church in Jerusalem after the death and resurrection of Jesus.

His teachings helped the community of believers and he was highly revered

In the book of James, (a compilation of his teachings), he instructed his audience to get rid of all moral filth and evils in their lives

They are to humbly accept the word planted in them and put the word into practice, because it is this word that has the power to save their souls

Believers should not deceive themselves that they are destined for final salvation when they only listen to the word of God without obeying it

Christians must actively and continually obey God’s words, internalizing its meaning

We must do the word.

The effectiveness of our listening and interaction with the word of God should be measurable through our behavior and attitudes, which serves as evidence.
