279TH EDITION, SEPTEMBER7TH, 2025

1ST LESSON: Deuteronomy. 14:22-29

2ND LESSON: Matthew 25:31-46

Deuteronomy presents the law afresh to Israel’s new generation after the adults were wiped out for disobedience.

This passage discussed crop tithe; a tenth of all the crops harvest for the year which they must bring to the designated place of worship

They are to eat these tithes of the grain, new wine, olive oil, and firstborn of herds and flock with their family in God’s presence.

By this, they will learn to honour God always.

In cases where the place of worship is very far, making the tithe items difficult to transport, they are to convert the items to cash and buy with it all needed for the feast on arrival.

At the end of every three years, tithes of that year’s produce must be stored up for Levites, strangers, widows, and fatherless.

These specifications were for the Jews in their national religion of Judaism, while the principles of tithing is adopted by the Christian Church

The second lesson presented the teaching of Jesus about the separation that will take place during the final judgment

The Son of man will sit on his glorious throne to judge all the nations of the world, and separate the people as shepherds separate the sheep from the goats

The sheep would be on the right hand and the goats on the left

The King will welcome the sheep into the Kingdom prepared from the creation of the world, and on the account of the goodness, including, hospitality, kindness, charity, generosity and so on

The righteous, those on the right; the sheep, will ask “When did we do all these”? when you did to someone overlooked or ignored, the King will reply

And for those who refused to help the least among the brethren, has by implication refused to help the King, and they are, thus, cursed and will go away into eternal punishment
