God through Moses gave the Israelites instructions for worship and concluded it with blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience to the covenant stipulations.
The children of Israel are not to make idols, set up an image, or sacred stone in the land to bow down before it
They are to worship Yahweh, observe the Sabbaths, and have reference for the sanctuary.
The blessings for obedience include rain in its season, bountiful crops yield as well as fruits from trees. Threshing season, grape harvest, and planting will overlap.
There will be peace in the land, security from wild animals, and victory over enemies, and their unity will foster the defeat of their enemies.
Due to a surplus of crops, old grains will be packed out for the new harvest.
God will live and walk among them, He will be their God, and they will be his people.
God will break the yoke of slavery, and they will work with their heads held high.
The second lesson is a parable about the kingdom of heaven likened to a man who sowed good seed on his field, but while everyone was sleeping his enemy sowed weeds among the wheat
Upon discovery, the farmer forbids his servant to pull out the weed from the wheat because they might uproot the wheat in so doing; instead, the wheat and weed should grow together until the harvest.
In Jesus’ interpretation, the Farmer is Jesus, the field is the world, the good seed are the people of the kingdom, the weeds are the people of the evil one, and the enemy who sows them is the devil.
The master is confident that the people of the kingdom will thrive until the appointed time when God will pull out the weeds; everything that causes sin and all who do evil.
