At a time when there was a famine in Israel, A man named Elimelek and Naomi his wife with their two sons left Bethlehem in Judah for Moab
It was a time when judges ruled Israel, there was no king and everyone did what seemed right in his eyes
Not long, Elimelek died in Moab
Later, Naomi’s sons, Mahlon and Kilion got married to Moabite women but their wives did not conceive until both suddenly died too
Now, Naomi lost her family that left Judah as well as the hope of family line continuity
Later Naomi decided to return home upon the news that the LORD had come to the aid of the Israelites by providing food
On their way, Naomi urged her daughters-in-law to return to their mothers but Ruth insisted
“Where you go, I will go…your people will be my people, and your God my God”
In the second lesson, James teaches about submitting to God
He identified that the problem of the believers is the evil desire within them, wanting things at all cost
They have not received because they have not asked from God, or their motives for things asked for are wrong, wanting only what satisfies their pleasure
Such people are friends of the world, which equates enmity to God
God expects the spirit in us to be faithful to him
Hence we should humble ourselves before God and we will be able to resist the devil and evil desires and the Lord will lift us in honor
We should not judge or criticize others
We should avoid self-confidence because we do not know what life will be like tomorrow
Instead, we should entrust tomorrow to God’s hands, saying “If the Lord wants”, otherwise we will be boasting about our pretentious plans, and such is evil
