1ST LESSON: Nahum 2:1-13

2ND LESSON: 1 John 5:14-21

Nahum’s message is a comfort to Judah (the southern kingdom) and woe to the Assyrians and their great city Nineveh Nineveh had repented a century ago under the preaching of Jonah but their repentance did not continue Now, while Judah looks forward to a messenger of good news advancing, Assyrians can anticipate an attacker and should get ready for war Although Judah had gone through hard times as the enemy destroyed her vines, but God promised restoration Nahum describes the attack on Nineveh, the shields, chariots, spears, and flaming torches, and mentions the access of the attackers through the river gate Nineveh’s exile has been decreed, the palace will collapse and servant girls will mourn at its capture Her silver and gold will be looted and the city will be plundered and ruined The Lord declares himself as the Assyrians enemy; He asks “Where now is that great Nineveh” The first epistle of John to the churches closes with affirmations John affirms to his immediate audience that those who believe in the name of the Son of God have eternal life And that for sure, God hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him; according to his will If they see a fellow believer sinning in a way that does not lead to death, they should pray, and God will give that person life Although all wicked actions are sins but not every sin leads to death. God’s children are not habitual sinners because they are secured in Jesus John also affirms that Jesus has come and has given understanding so that we can know the true God And that by living in fellowship with the Son, we also live in fellowship with God Thus, they should keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts
